“Tantalus” 6 inch (150mm) petty blade knife. From the blade to the butt of the handle, dark resin transitions to gold leaf flakes, transitions to a skull at the butt of the knife facing a bunch of grapes. The orienation here captures the essence of story of Tantalus, the tragic Greek figure cursed in Hades to be for every thirsty and forever hungry, with sustenance always just out of reach. Unlike Tantalus, however, you create sustenance and can even partake in your creations.
The blade is made from molybdenum vanadium [stainless] steel, which is a mid-grade stainless steel hardened to HRC 57. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done, won’t rust, and easy to sharpen. You won't have to baby this knife. The edge angle is sharpened to 15 degrees and stropped for a razor sharp edge. Full flat grind (tapers from spine to cutting edge). The blade is 6” (150 mm) long, 1.122” (29.5 mm) tall, & 0.073” (1.85 mm) thick at the spine with a distal taper (gets thinner as it goes to the tip). The total length of the knife is 10.7” (272 mm).
